Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesA mix of Russian River sites are used here but the majority comes of the old Foppiano Vineyard, literally a few feet from the river. This is topped up from sites around the home vineyard on Laguna Road and throughout the Green Valley appellation. It was a drought year so yields were low but the fruit was ideal. The lots are all kept separate and aged in new, one and two-year-old barrels. The nose is rich and ripe, Russian River style, with big, black cherry fruit, spicy cola notes and a touch of earth and mushrooms to keep it centered.
