Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder 2012

Mount Veeder, Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe 2012 Lokoya is a mountain of wine. Think big and long with intense aromas and flavours from front to back. Matching the intensity is piercing blue fruits and spice with enough floral mineral activity to keep it all balanced and refreshing. It’s 100 percent cabernet sauvignon, ripened to perfection and washed in blueberries, black raspberries, and cassis with a savoury, menthol, licorice undercarriage. You can only expect this wine to improve through 2025 and beyond and hold for decades. Bravo winemaker Chris Carpenter. If you dare open it now it has to be with rare beef. The Mount Veeder single vineyard sits at 1800 feet above sea level on the western ridges of the Mayacamas Mountains and at the northern end of the Mount Veeder appellation. The shallow, poor volcanic soils, low in minerals and nutrients, encourage smaller bunches and small berries that most years lead to huge concentration of flavour.Tasted: 15 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
