La Crema Saralee's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesMost of you are too young to remember when the winery was called la Crema Vinera or the “best of the vine,” back in 1979. Saralee’s Vineyard lies in the heart of the Russian River Valley honouring one of the regions most respected wine growers. Today this pinot is 100 percent artisan in nature over tow thirds of the fruit goes into the open top ferment as whole berries. They get a cold bath for four days before heading for 100 percent French oak barrels for nine months of aging. The nose has beautiful earthy floral tones with a black licorice, spice and espresso mid-palate and along sooth simmering spicy clove finish. Think roast chicken, tea-smoked duck, or creamy mushroom pasta dishes. A charcuterie plate with dried fruits would also work.Tasted: 31 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
