Chaberton Reserve Chardonnay 2015
Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBig rich, full and oaky with ripe pineapple, spicy baked apple and pear skin. This was whole-berry pressed before heading into 100 percent new French oak for three months (full MLF) and then a split 50/50 between that potent oak and stainless. Too bad because there is some interesting fruit here but it's been clobbered by sweet, vanilla-laden wood. The finish is more of the same with sweet vanilla overtones.
