Cambria Benchbreak Pinot Noir 2013

Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California, United StatesBenchbreak sits 400-800 feet above sea level on the Santa Maria bench over a mix of shale, limestone and sandy soils. The site is cool and fog-swept leaving the vineyards with longest growing season in the state. Look for an herbal raspberry, strawberry nose with brisk, crunchy acidity and fine, lightly grippy tannins. There is an earthy undercurrent that tempers the silken ripeness leaving it streamlined on the palate, with a powdery grip on the finish. Seven clones of pinot go into this medium bodied red, which spends eight months in French oak, a quarter of which is new. You can drink this now ore age three to five years.Tasted: 31 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
