Blue Grouse Cowichan Station Pinot Noir 2014

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaTight resiny, reductive,cherry/blackberry, black plum nose with and subtle branch dominate this concentrated and brisk (fresh) Cowichan pinot noir. The fruit is a mix of two sites averaging 20 years in vine age and the wine spends ten months in barrel adding some slightly sticky tannins to support fruit. Acidity dominates the wine and tends to dry out the chocolate-mint finish. A rich fatty salmon steak is the match here. A good effort that needs a touch more fruit and a little acid to really shine.Tasted: 31 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
