Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla, SpainOld vine tempranillo from Villanueva de Campeán and El Pego, Zamora province in the hot Tierra de Castilla region, make up this full bodied and dense red. Fifteen months in French oak barrels for a period of 15 months further ups the concentration, resulting in a thick pour of medicinal black fruit, dark chocolate, pencil lead, balsamic reduction and roasted coffee. Tannins are thick and sticky, and the bitter espresso finish feels more than its 15.5 percent alcohol. Not shy, welcomes decanting.
