Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainFormiga is a blend of Priorato grenache noir, carignan and syrah that is aged about 9 months in an 80/20 mix of French and American oak. The attack is round and juicy with intense stony, black fruit aromas and similar smoky, savoury, black cherry fruit flavours that fill the mouth. Try this with grilled meats, a thick steak or roast. Terrific value here in what is a serious, modern red made in an old school way.
