Maverick Estate Winery Chardonnay 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe second edition of the Maverick chardonnay is a fine jump up in quality over last year. The 2014 growing season was dry, warm and long and the key factor was likely a cool September and a warm October leaving the fruit with a racy quality and tolerable alcohol at 13.4 percent. Winemaker Bertus Albertyn used a single vineyard on the Golden Mile to produce only 100 cases. The nose is a fresh mix of apricot caramel, orange blossom and citrus. The palate round with nutty leesy citrus flavours with fine acidity. The finish is long and buttery. The wine spends six months in new French oak before bottling.
