C.C. Jentsch Small Lot Series Malbec 2014

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWant to stump someone on a blind tasting? Pour them Okanagan malbec. Certainly a rarity in BC, though a few wineries make it successfully, especially in the warm, sun-drenched southern valley. This wine certainly qualifies, with full and ripe blueberry, perfumed cassis, sweet balsamic, cracked black pepper, baking spice and light pipe smoke. A gentle brightness of acidity and plush, fine tannins are welcoming. Sixteen months in French and American oak further build structure, though the dense fruit and bottle age has tamed and integrated the wood very well. Only 84 cases of this Small Lot Series Malbec was made, and while it's drinking well now, will certainly age short term.Tasted: 27 June 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
