Anthony Buchanan Wines Pinot Noir 2014
Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis new Okanagan pinot noir is sourced from Summerland's Jinny Lee Vineyard, and from nine-year-old Pommard clone grapes. Whole berry and without stems, this spends one week in a cool soak before fermentation starts naturally, after which it is inoculated for completion and control. After regular punch downs pre- and during fermentation, the wine spends ten months in French oak. Perfumed cherries, raspberry jam and fine cinnamon bark spicing on the round, soft palate. Acidity is lightly lifted, and tannins are downy and lush through a very spicy, bitter black cherry finish. Though I'd love to see a tighter line of acidity in future, this is a lovely introduction to the house and style.Tasted: 10 June 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
