Tinhorn Creek Oldfield Series Chardonnay 2014

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaGrown on rocky soils, essentially washed down off Mt. Kobau the first Golden Mile Bench chardonnay released by Tinhorn and made by winemaker Andrew Windsor is very good. The colour is a touch yellow but the style is as fresh as it is rich. The nose is a mix of citrus, flowers, honey and oak with a hint of caramel all of which previews a tighter, more linear fresh flavour profile of nutty, flinty, apple/lemon/pineapple and what the winery is saying finishes with “marzipan and biscotti”. I like the complexity and length. This Tinhorn chardonnay is all grown up and for year one impressive. Try it with grill halibut or Dungeness crab. Barrel fermented in French oak barrels, and aged 12 months in both oak and stainless steel barrels.Tasted: 28 April 2016Tasted by: Prices:
