Maverick Estate Winery Rubeus 2013

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaExpect an attractive peppery, fruit nose reflecting a 35/25/25/15 mix of syrah, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot all co-fermented in 3400-litre wooden vat and aged in older oak for 18 months. The palate is juicy, with fresh cassis, meaty flavours flecked with pepper. The finish is soft and juicy. Fun to drink and even better with grilled lamb chops or chicken. Owner/winemaker Bertus Albertyn named the wine Rubeus after the Italian river the Rubicon - that marked the point of no return something you can’t do after you co-ferment any grapes.Tasted: 14 April 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
