Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaIn dry 2013, this is more concentrated as ever. Cassis paste, blackberry jam, dark mocha, eucalyptus oil, whiffs of charcoal and woodsmoke fill this full-bodied, dense wine. Tannins are super ripe and chewy, and acidity hums to try and keep pace with the heft. Boozy kirsch lingers on the finish. From grapes 9-100 years old. This benefits greatly from decanting, and even more so with pairing with sauced baby lamb shank.Tasted: 05 October 2016Tasted by: Prices:

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaYields in some shiraz vineyards was down by 50 to 80 percent in 2013 when little or no rain fell. The season was early Look for a rich plummy, peppery raspberry nose with brown spices and cocoa powder. The attack is dry and a touch resiny with mocha, blueberry and vanilla. There’s plenty of tannin to be dispersed yet. Bets now with grilled lamb or beef or hold five years.Tasted: 26 April 2016Tasted by: Prices:
