Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Napa Valley, California, United StatesI’m not sure who it is that is calling Fuse a ‘modern-style’ cabernet but I wonder if they really knew what modern California cabernet tasted like if they would use that descriptor to describe this cab that is nothing like the sweet, modern, undrinkable crap that is sweeping the state. Ray Signorello has always had a European bent, he buys and drinks very fine wine and expects that his wines should ape as much as possible the lean, round, flavourful, complex style of cabernet. The 2012 is barely a ‘cabernet’ at 75 percent with 11/5/5/4 blend of merlot, cabernet franc, syrah and petit verdot. I’m not sure it needs the final two grapes in this blend but I guess it’s a nod to the millennials. Warm rich supple and spicy it hits all the right buttons and you can drink it now. Best with a grilled steak.Tasted: 18 April 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
