Veneto, ItalyLugana DOC is an appellation for dry white wine in the border area of the two Italian regions Lombardy and Veneto. The grape is trebbiano di lugana (aka turbiana), here twenty-five-years old and from the southern shores of Lake Garda. Seventy/thirty fermentation in large oak casks and stainless steel before six months in barrel and a year in bottle. Ripe pear and wild honey are mouth-filling and expansive, the oak influence apparent. Fine herbal salts, lightly perfumed apricot, medicinal white cherry and vanilla lick on the heated finish.
