Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2012

Oakville, Napa Valley, California, United StatesAfter a couple of difficult cool, wet, years the 2012 was charm coming in balanced and flavourful between October 8 and 26. The all To Kalon-sourced clusters are gently destemmed directly into traditional French oak tanks for cold soak, fermentation and extended maceration that totals 33 days of wine to skin contact before its pressed into 75% new French-oak barrels for malolactic fermentation to promote seamless integration of fruit and oak. Sweet cherry and perfumed raspberry overlay leather and tobacco in this ripe, extracted blend of cabernet sauvignon (3/4), cabernet franc, malbec, petit verdot and merlot. At this stage, this classy red teems with mocha, saddle and dried plum, tightened by sueded tannins and finishing with a bitter cherry note. Already suave in its youth, this will continue to merge and meld over time. Give it five+ years or drink now with roast beef.Tasted: 29 March 2016Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
