Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThis small 2.5ha vineyard is one of the oldest estates in the appellation and one of the most prized estates there. Sixty-year-old marsanne on sloped loess and terre blanc soils shows lovely complexed stony layers; dried herbs, salt, honeysuckle and subtle pear. Low yield, whole bunch pressed, fermented in oak barrels (30 percent new) and aged on lees for nine months.
