Falernia Carmenère Reserva 2012
Valle del Elqui, ChileWinemaker Giorgio Flessati, hails form the Trentino region in Northern Italy but has become an unabashed Elqui Valley crusader. This Reserva is handpicked very late in the season with some 60 percent of the grapes appassimento or dried on the vines. After fermentation 60% of the juice is aged in premium American oak for 8 months. Normally this grape can be herbaceous but not here, in fact you could argue this wine is over ripe. Expect a super smooth entry with rich blackcurrant and balsamic aromas and flavours with a rich peppery long finish. A bit of a brute. Best served with grilled meat, slow braised pork dishes and meaty pasta dishes.Tasted: 21 March 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $17.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
