Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPale, brick mature colour throughout and very shy on the nose, this is well balanced but has fading flavours in the mid-palate. There were some light notes of autumn leaves and preserved plums in this easy drinking and rounded red. Sourced from a Summerland vineyard owned by growers Waters and Banks, the wine was whole bunch fermented with wild yeast, spending 4 weeks on skins before going into concrete eggs. The clones involved are Dijon 115 and 667.Tasted: 28 August 2024Tasted by: Prices:

Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWaters & Banks vineyard is a steep sloping Summerland vineyard comprised of limestone and granite. This pinot noir was wild yeast and whole bunch fermented and spent four weeks on skins before resting in concrete eggs, a regime under the watchful eye of international "rock star" (aka soil geek) Pedro Parra. The result is perfumed herbal raspberry, smoked branch, dusty desert sage and a textured silk palate, one with finely grippy veins of tannin and a delicately bright acidity. Pure fruited and youthful, with evident sous bois underlay, this is ideal for your fire grilled wild fowl or dark meat turkey.
