Alois Lageder Lagrein 2011
Trentino- Alto-Adige, ItalyDense, herbal and leathery, lagrein finds its true home in the mountainous Alto Adige region of Northern Italy. Five generations of the Lageder family have been farming grapes here, so you have to trust they know what works. With vines ranging from fifteen to fifty years old, and a seventeen-month rest in concrete, it's a promising glimpse. Like this - a richer red, freshened with mountain air, and built around dusky mulberry, herbal, black raspberry and red currants with a firm, leathery structure and furry tannins. Thorny florals and cinnamon bark spicing linger on the finish.Tasted: 15 February 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
