Yalumba the Strapper Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2013
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThis medium bodied GSM charms with dark berry fruit, black plum, subtle medicinal cherry and herbal mustard seed. Ripe tannins are scuffed with enough grippy, woodgrain texture to crack alongside hearty pork chops, but not too much to overwhelm - a nice chord. Grenache, shiraz and mataro spend nine months in new French oak puncheons and barriques and Hungarian oak hogsheads with the balance in older large format wood. Still in the flush of youth, a little warm on the finish (you can feel that fourteen percent) and ready to crack tonight or over the next three years.Tasted: 25 January 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $22.49 | 750ml | BCLS |
