Nielson by Byron Pinot Noir 2013

Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California, United StatesFrom the Nielson Vineyard located in the eastern foothills of the Santa Maria Valley, planted in 1964 this vineyard lies just south of the famous Bien Nacido Vineyard and has mature vines with carefully selected clones of Pinot Noir planted by Uriel Nielson. Now owned by Jackson Family Estates the 2013 comes off a seriously good vintage. The wine is aged 16 months in French oak with some 40 percent of that new. The colour is light but the flavours are big with rich spicy, barnyard strawberry/black cherry aromas. The palate is silky smooth with sweet, delicate, caramelized red and black fruit. A delicious drinking pinot for mid-term consumption. Drink now through 2020.Tasted: 21 January 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
