Giovanni Rosso Del Commune di Serralunga d'Alba Barolo 2011

Serralunga, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyAlluring nose of iron, dried roses, cherries (classic Serralunga) carries through to the medium bodied palate, where tight, fine, grainy tannins frame its earthy fruits. Fresh, bright acidity lifts easily though to a lingering, stony finish. Finessed. Try with hard cheese or grilled meats. The Rosso family have been farming vineyards in the Serralunga d’Alba region for over a century. They have six vineyards planted to nebbiolo in 1947, 1959, 1994, 2000, 2006, 2008 over a mix of calcareous clay; limestone and sandy soils. The vinification is done in cement tanks, the ageing in 25 hectolitre French oak casks for 36 months.Tasted: 11 January 2016Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
