Codorníu Cuvée 1872 Rosé Barcelona NV

Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainNamed in honour of the year that Josep Raventós crafted the first bottle of cava, this rosé recalls traditional winemaking techniques like the capas system of fermentation, where fresh must was added to must already undergoing fermentation, lowering the temperature and affecting the texture. These musts spend time in oak, further amping-up the body before spending nine months on the lees. Full notes of cherry, raspberry, red currant jam and brioche on a creamy, expansive palate. Crisp, currant-laced acidity and barely off-dry, with ample fruit and body. This is one for the dinner table to pour alongside tomato sauced cannelloni or gentle curries.Tasted: 08 January 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
