Binner Vignoble D’Ammerschwihr Riesling 2012

Alsace, FrancePure, unadulterated Alsatian riesling, from a family who has been making wines from this terroir since 1770 (so you have to trust they know what they're doing). Naturally produced (no additives), this biodynamically farmed wine is with old vines from granitic slopes, vinified in large wooden barrels and left on the lees until bottling without fining or filtration. The minimalist approach is evident in the narrow, concentrated style, with honeysuckle, elderflower and subtle white fruit, pulled taut with a mineral grippiness and moderate acidity. Flirts with botrytis throughout, especially evident in the dry, honeyed finish. Enjoy this as it warms up and reveals itself over time in the glass.Tasted: 22 January 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
