Régis Boucabeille Les Terrasses 2014
Côtes du Roussillon Villages, Roussillon, Sud de France, FranceHaving southern France red blends like this remind me how much I adore southern France red blends. This grenache/syrah/carignan blend is from the Roussillon, planted on shale slopes and abandoned in the 20th century because it was too hard to farm. Today, 11 terraces between 200-300 metres are farmed organically, treated respectfully and produce this delicious, fresh, juicy red. Ripe plums, smoked stone, garrigue, wild blackberries and raspberries ride a plump, sun-ripened cushion, one supported and defined by slightly gritty tannins. Juicy acidity and a lingering, anise-tinged finish complete this balanced and easily quaffable, serious wine.Tasted: 28 December 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $20.49 | 750ml | BCLS |
