Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainFormiga is a juicy 60/20/20 mix of grenache noir, carignan and syrah that is aged about 9 months in an 80/20 mix of French and America oak. The attack is fresh, the flavours juicy, with stony mineral black fruit flavours. This not shrinking violet but the tannins are in check, more velvety than grippy. The finish is a smoky mix of savoury, black cherry, and stony fruit. Made from organically grown grapes. Try this with any mushroom dish or rich mid-winter stews or casseroles.
