Domaine Carneros Cuvée de la Pompadour Brut Rosé NV

Carneros, Napa Valley, California, United StatesMadame de Pompadour (mistress to Louis XV) is credited with introducing Champagne to the court at Versailles and the inspiration for the Brut Rosé Cuvée de la Pompadour, declaring it was "the only wine that a woman can drink and remain beautiful." Pompadour hails from California's Carneros region, just north of the San Pablo Bay. The cuvée is 72/28 pinot noir/chardonnay, where a portion of the pinot noir is allowed several days of skin contact to pull additional fruit character and colour. Expect an intriguing mature, salty, strawberry/cherry attack with light nuances of peaches, honeysuckle and spice. A creamy mineral texture carries through a dry, food-friendly finish. Not sure when this arrived in the market, or when it was bottled, but it is now fully ready to drink it needs no extra ageing. Salmon anyone?Tasted: 01 November 2020Tasted by: Prices:
