Champagne Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Brut Rosé de Blancs NV
Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceDidier, part of the third generation of the Gimonnet family, oversees the winemaking of their family winery, based in Cuis, in the heart of the Côtes de Blancs. This wine, like all of their chardonnay-centric wines, is laser focused. According to Didier, he wants a rosé that tastes like a blanc de blancs with colour. "Powerful chardonnay." It certainly succeeds. This bottling sources fruit from Cramant, Oger, and Chouilly, adding 7% Bouzy still pinot noir. It was disgorged in June 2022, and from vintage 2020 (unlike his other NV wines, the Rosé is from a single year, with no reserve wines). This salmon-hued rosé champagne charms with wild strawberry, white cherry, and pithy lemon, lit with an effortless acidity, shaped with a chalky brace, and trailing with cherry blossoms and lingering salinity. Certainly one of the most chardy of all the rosé champagnes, even with the relatively ample still wine added this vintage. A fantastic food wine.Tasted: 19 February 2024Tasted by: Prices:BC | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |

This wine, like all of their chardonnay-centric wines, is laser focused. According to Didier, he wants a rosé that tastes like a blanc de blancs with colour. "Powerful chardonnay." It certainly succeeds. This bottling sources fruit from Cramant, Oger, and Chouilly, adding 5% Bouzy still pinot noir. This pale-hued rosé champagne is as light as a rosé champagne can be, with tight wild strawberry, subtle raspberry, pink florals, crisp green apple, white grapefruit rind, and subtle fresh green herbs, along a sleek and narrow palate. As always, this tastes the most chardonnay a rosé champagne can be, and is so very singular and charming for it. Enjoy, liberally, if you love chardonnay but want to pair it with wild mushrooms / salmon canapés.Tasted: 09 November 2023Tasted by: Prices:BC | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |

Lively and joyous fresh strawberry raspberry meringue on a tightly wound, chalky base, trailing off with fine salinity. Lovely release and very much in the BdB vein.Tasted: 22 October 2022Tasted by: Prices:BC | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |

Pouring a pale peach hue, this rings with buzzy chalky minerality, carrying cherry, raspberry, cranberry, fine meringue along a streamlined frame, with lingering spices on the chalky finish. Smashable, yet serious, this is my house champagne for a very good reason.Tasted: 19 July 2021Tasted by: Prices:BC | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |

My bottle was disgorged in April 2019, and was based on the 2015 harvest, giving it 3 years on lees. Pouring a very pale hue, this streams cherry and raspberry, with fine tight florals along a fresh, saline palate. The finish shimmers with minerality and lingers with a bitter cherry kiss. Very food friendly, and inviting for solo smashing also.Tasted: 07 December 2019Tasted by: Prices:BC | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |

Champagne Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Brut Rosé de Blancs NV
Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceIf you shy away from rosé Champagne because you feel it lacks precision or tastes too fruity, this pristine, finessed example will change your mind. Delicate and intense, with rose petals colouring the chalky textural palate. A linear precision reflects the 96 percent chardonnay, while four percent still pinot noir from Bouzy brings the gentle pink hue, gentle cushion of cherries and red liquorice that floats on top. A grippy riff on the finish is lengthy and strawberry tinged. A lovely, finessed and linear example. This was disgorged April 20, 2015.Tasted: 15 March 2017Tasted by: Prices:BC | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |

Champagne Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Brut Rosé de Blancs NV
Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceThis pristine, finessed rosé is for those people who may not generally gravitate towards rosé champagnes (ahem - people like me). Delicate and intense at once, with a chalky textural minerality and precision that befits its 96 percent chardonnay. Four percent still pinot noir from Bouzy is added to the blend, yielding an ever-so-delicate peach hue and cushion of wild strawberries, gentle hint of cherries and red liquorice that floats atop a linear, driving lemon pith and mineral vein and a positively grippy riff. The finish is lengthy and rose tinged. A striking, pristine example of what rosé champagne can be. Drinking beautifully now, but will hold easily for 5+ years.Tasted: 10 December 2015Tasted by: Prices:BC | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
