Champagne, FranceThough the price has risen over the years, the dosage has dropped, and consistency remains solid as ever. More than 50 vineyards, and 25 to 40 percent reserve wine (from five to six vintages) goes into this blend of 50-55 percent pinot noir, 15-20 percent pinot meunier and 28-33 percent chardonnay. Light patisserie, spiced mandarin, green apple, ample spice pad the medium+ palate, starting big, but finishing short and brusquely. A friendly crowd-pleaser.Tasted: 04 November 2019Tasted by: Prices:BC | $82.99 | 750ml | BCLS |

Champagne, FranceConsistency is key at Veuve, and Yellow Label is their epitome of sameness. 50 different vineyards and 25 to 40 percent reserve wine (from five to six vintages) is blended back into the blend of 50-55 percent pinot noir, 15-20 percent pinot meunier and 28-33 percent chardonnay. This is always a richer, doughier style, with brioche, dough, red apple and a fine shaking of nutmeg spicing. The cushy palate is plumped with a generous dosage, and stunted by a shorter finish. Easy, approachable and still complexed and rich. Consistency is key, and perfectly achieved.Tasted: 09 December 2017Tasted by: Prices:BC | $82.99 | 750ml | BCLS |

Champagne, FranceA rich toasty NV brut defines the house style at Veuve, due mostly to some 50 different cru vineyards and 25 to 40 per cent reserve wine (from five to six vintages) that is blended back into the blend of 50-55% pinot noir, 15-20% pinot meunier and 28-33% chardonnay. Look for a richer bread dough base to support baked apple, pear and lemon. Light smoked stone, lemon curd and baked pear is brightened with a citrus pith and a tiny bit of sweetness in the finish. One of the best non-vintage VCs in recent memory.Tasted: 05 December 2016Tasted by: Prices:BC | $82.99 | 750ml | BCLS |

Champagne, FranceVery upfront nose, with ample mandarine, citrus, toast and baked apple on the nose and palate. The fuller palate (guessing top of the Brut dosage scale) turns flabbier with time but when chilled and cracked, the citrine crispiness and ample doughy toast is highly appealing. The N/V brut defines the house style thanks to some 25 to 40 per cent reserve wine in each edition.Tasted: 10 December 2015Tasted by: Prices:BC | $82.99 | 750ml | BCLS |

Champagne, FranceFine continuous mousse with a toasty, spicy, baked apple, light pear, honey, cherry and cashew aromas. Fresh, crisp, juicy but slightly austere palate with light sweetness and prickly mousse. Baked green apple, toasty, nutty, grassy, lemon, grassy, slightly buttery flavours. Crisper, more austere finish that would be balanced with food or a few years more of bottle age. Champagne, FranceThe origin of Veuve Clicquot's distinctive "yellow" label (which looks orange) is linked colour of free-run chicken's egg yolk. Clicquot's non vintage label is a powerful house style with good fruit and plenty of brioche and butter flavours." Its weight and power stems from the addition of some 25 to 40 per cent reserve wines (older vintages) to the blend. "Power and elegance in the same bottle. Anything with salmon will work here. The big toasty N/V brut defines the house style thanks to some 25 to 40 per cent reserve wine in each edition. Straw yellow color. Heady, fruity, toasty aromas. Big yeasty dough flavours on entry with an almost malty/peaty flavour on the mid-palate. A big, round, rich sparkler with lots of finesse.
