Champagne Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV

Champagne, FrancePol Roger opens with an ethereal scent of green apple, nectarine skin, and brioche. On the palate, faint hints of toasted nuts and bread dough with a pinch of honey, all balanced perfectly by its impeccable acidity. It's one of the finest wiens you can serve with fresh shucked oysters. Pol Roger was founded in 1849 and overseen by 5 generations of family members. It is a label you can buy with confidence. Brut Reserve was famously Sir Winston Churchill's favourite. Today, equal parts pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay, from 91 hectares of prime owned sites in the Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs make up 55% of Pol Roger's needs. The rest is purchased from growers. The winery has 7km of underground storage on three levels; the deepest at 34 meters is also among the coolest in Champagne and is said to prolong the fermentation and fuel its elegant styling. The final blend contains one-quarter of reserve wines, adding complexity and value.Tasted: 20 April 2024Tasted by: Prices:
