The palate pitches quince, apricot, and light honey with a streak of tangerine and an electric mineral stony finish. Brut Réserve has always been crafted to be the champagne of all occasions. The blend is equal parts pinot noir, pinot meunier, and chardonnay from 30 different crus, and 25% is reserve wine from previous years. Harmony is the key to this label's success, which is consistently reached by mixing the structure, body and power of pinot noir with the freshness, roundness and fruitiness of the meunier and the aromatic complexity, finesse, elegance and lightness of chardonnay. Champagne, FrancePol Roger opens with an ethereal scent of green apple, nectarine skin, and brioche. On the palate, faint hints of toasted nuts and bread dough with a pinch of honey, all balanced perfectly by its impeccable acidity. It's one of the finest wiens you can serve with fresh shucked oysters. Pol Roger was founded in 1849 and overseen by 5 generations of family members. It is a label you can buy with confidence. Brut Reserve was famously Sir Winston Churchill's favourite. Today, equal parts pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay, from 91 hectares of prime owned sites in the Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs make up 55% of Pol Roger's needs. The rest is purchased from growers. The winery has 7km of underground storage on three levels; the deepest at 34 meters is also among the coolest in Champagne and is said to prolong the fermentation and fuel its elegant styling. Champagne, FranceFounded in 1849, and overseen by family for five generations, Pol Roger Brut Reserve was famously Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite champagne. Equal parts pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay, this was drawn from 30 crus across the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, & Côte des Blancs. After a stainless ferment and full MLF, this ages four years on lees and includes 25 percent reserve wines. Creamy, lees led and brioche dominant, with green apple, toasty notes, high acid (easily enough to counter the 9 g/l dosage). Lovely meringue / marshmallow notes on the finish.
