Mission Hill Terroir Collection No. 23 Crosswinds Syrah 2012

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom Mission Hill's Terroir Collection, this is sourced from two vineyards, one on Black Sage Bench (69 percent) and one in Osoyoos (31 percent). Thirteen months in French oak (37 percent new) sets the foundation for this syrah, appearing surprisingly cabernet-like. This shows the savoury, dusty side of syrah, reflecting the semi-desert climate environment. Dusky black cherry, potent anise, thorny cassis is scented with tobacco and lined with subtle tar. Acidity is tenuous, tannins are finely structured and sanded, providing a firm, lean framework to this medium-full red. Restraint rules here, benefitting from the winery aging this wine for you. Drinking well now (decanted), especially with grilled pork.Tasted: 24 October 2016Tasted by: Prices:
