Howard Park Flint Rock Chardonnay 2013

Mt. Barker, Great Southern, Western Australia, AustraliaFlint Rock lives up to its name on first whiff, with a stony, salty savoury reductive note and a little dried sage lurking underneath. The creamy, lees-led palate carries the same stoniness, along with tight green apple, ample lemon pith, white grapefruit, lemon curd and spent pencil eraser. Low yields and wild yeast ups the earthy, savoury complexities, while a cool ferment has preserved the zippy fruit. The finish is textured with wood hewn spice. A bit disjointed, but comes together when paired with richer, lemon kissed sablefish.Tasted: 19 October 2015Tasted by: Prices:
