Seven of Hearts Chatte D'Avignon GSM 2012

Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesSeven of Hearts may be Dundee Oregon-based and the grapes for this GSM come from the Oregon side of the Columbia River, but the appellation Columbia Valley belongs to Washington, thus, it carries a "Columbia Valley Washington" appellation. Once you make it past the arcane labelling laws, you can tuck into this Rhone inspired blend. Ripe red cherry, leather, dark fig opens this slightly sticky, fuller red. Fortunately, there's a currant of acidic lift on the palate, but overripe red fruit weighs down the whole. It's a shame, because there is some lovely floral and finessed fruit hidden underneath, peeking through. Still, a smoothed, pretty and earthy red blend to pour alongside grilled pork chops and yams.Tasted: 08 September 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
