Gérard Bertrand Grand Terroir Les Aspres 2011

Côtes du Roussillon, Roussillon, Sud de France, FranceThese syrah, mourvèdre and grenache vines grow in the shadow of Mont Canigou in the Pyrenean foothills. Les Aspres is a benchmark cru in the Côtes du Roussillon, translating to 'arid' in Catalan and reflecting the sun-drenched terroir. A powerful nose, with iron, violets, stone, thorns and fragrant cassis. Fine grained spices - pepper, clove - dust the fine, firm tannins, supporting ripe layers of cassis, cherry, raspberry, leather and cured meats. The finish lingers with garrigue and fine black pepper, welcoming pouring with leg of lamb. Fantastic value.Tasted: 27 August 2015Tasted by: Prices:
