This ripe, round blend of merlot, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot opens with perfumed dark florals, cassis, black plum, blackberry and ink. Violets lead the palate, where ripe cassis and plum notes return before ample black pepper on the finish. The palate is rich and leesy with with waxy, exotic aromas of peach and mango followed by honeyed apricots, spice, brown butter and a nutty lemon finish. A little closed in but has fine potential over the next three years. A wine to watch. Marsanne, viognier and roussanne grapes were whole-bunch pressed, fermented slow and cool and spent time in a mix of French oak and acacia barrels. Full and heady, with a waxy palate, lees-laden texture and spice throughout. Ripe white peach, lychee, honey, savoury brown butter, apricot nut, dried herbs and lemon notes.
