Zuccardi Cuvée Especial Blanc de Blancs NV
Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThis is probably not what you're expecting. Unless you're expecting a traditional method, 100 percent chardonnay sourced from vineyards 1300m meters high in Tupungato, Mendoza, that has rested on the lees for 58 months (!). In other words, a pretty serious bubble. Light gold in the glass, with heady and mature notes of toast, nut and honeyed lemon. The palate carries the same mature notes - full and rich with intense honey, baked apple, bright citrus peel and toast. Acidity is racy and pithy, and there is a gentle dosage which boosts the creamy palate through to a lengthy finish. If you're in the mood for an aged Champagne and want to spend less than half the price, pick up this serious sparkler.Tasted: 22 December 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $26.09 | 750ml | private wine shops |
