McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaA spiced nose - star anise, pepper, nutmeg - lifts dense cassis and violets out of the glass with first swirl of this McLaren Vale Shiraz. The density continues on the palate, with glossy, potent and thick black fruit, charcoal, ink, chocolate and potent menthol and eucalyptus. Soft, ripe tannins end with a nip of astringency, and the finish trails off into ink, and heat.
