Upper Bench Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaNaramata is likely as far north as you would want to grow cabernet sauvignon in the Okanagan and even then one can only expect it to ripen in picture-perfect years. That said it could be the new normal is hot and sunny in Naramata all day and night. The 2012 Upper Bench follows up on a solid 2011 and while the wine appears richer it sports a level of acidity that’s not for everyone. The fruit is dark and brooding with cedar, black olive and tobacco notes, well-managed tannins with a fresh finish. This needs five years to settle in or serve it now with a creamy, Upper Bench cheese.Tasted: 10 July 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
