Père Anselme La Fiole du Pape Châteauneuf-du-Pape NV

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceLa Fiole distinguishes itself not only by its unique bottle design but also by its composition, primarily a blend of grenache and syrah, which is annually complemented with reserve wines aged for up to five years. The inclusion of reserve wine contributes to a refined and approachable profile upon release. The wine's notably smooth texture results from fermentation processes conducted exclusively in concrete vessels, both for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. Notably, the final cuvée comprises only 30–40% of the total fermented volume and undergoes maturation in century old large oak barrels. Tasting notes include black cherry, licorice root, strawberry jam, delicate milk chocolate, and spice. The bottle was designed in 1952 by Charles Brotte in collaboration with local Provençal glass and ceramic artisans. The bottle's form, inspired by the region's contorted, wind swept vines shaped by the Mistral wind, reflects the area's viticultural heritage. The name La Fiole, stemming from the Latin Phiala, denotes a treasured vessel.Tasted: 17 April 2025Tasted by: Prices:
