Masi Campofiorin 2011
Verona, Veneto, ItalyThis wine has been made by Masi since 1964 when they developed the technique of using lightly, semi-dried grapes in a ripasso method (a process of adding (or “repassing”) lighter Valpolicella wine over the skins et al of a richer Amarone wine to add additional color, texture and flavor to the wine). An acrid, bitter cherry and blackcurrant nose needs ample air time. The palate is much more welcoming, with warm cassis, plum, tobacco and light leather. Tannins are soft, finely powdered, and acidity is moderate. Decant and pour alongside ragout.Tasted: 12 July 2015Tasted by: Prices:BC | $19.30 | 750ml | BCLS |
