Concha y Toro Marqués de Casa Concha Carmenere 2012
Puemo, Valle del Cachapoal, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileThis Peumo carmenere surprises in many ways, not the least of which with value for price. Earthy, green herbal notes, with blackcurrant, ripe black cherry and a salty, almost seaweed, flickering throughout. Green coffee, cedar boughs, cranberry, anise, bay leaf all contribute interesting complexity here, far beyond what I was expecting. Fresh, medium bodied and drinkable now, especially with grilled meats over an open flame.Tasted: 23 November 2016Tasted by: Prices:
Concha y Toro Marqués de Casa Concha Carmenere 2012
Puemo, Valle del Cachapoal, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileI don't wake up craving carmenère but this bottle is an amazing example of what can be done when it’s ripe and well made. Carmenère for carmenère fans plus. Love the ripe dense blackcurrant, licorice nose laced with savoury dried herb notes and pepper. The attack is warm and equally dense with cedar, tobacco, menthol, bay leaf, resin and black fruit all streaked with dark chocolate. Almost a meal in itself. Best with grilled meats. This will comfortably age for five years. A smart cellar buy.Tasted: 24 July 2015Tasted by: Prices:
