Yalumba Viognier The Virgilius Eden Valley 2012

Eden Valley, South Australia, AustraliaWhen it comes to Yalumba and viognier in Australia, consider The Virgilius the flagship. Every attention is paid: hand-picked, whole bunch pressed, wild ferment, French oak barriques, ten months battonage and then a barrel selection with only the brightest making the final cut. A bright, shining, primary nose, with cold cream perfume and apricot blossom. The apricot and peach dominate the luscious palate, drawing fine gingersnap, rich cream and lime pith through the lengthy finish. Potent and concentrated, with moderate quenching acid to lift the generous palate. Cellar worthy, or decant now and enjoy with rich shellfish or cream sauced pastas.Tasted: 11 June 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
