Concha y Toro Marqués de Casa Concha Chardonnay Single Vineyard 2013

Valle del Limari, ChileAfter a corked wine the second bottle was clean. The secret to the Marqués single vineyard chardonnay is its Limarí Valley fruit. Clay over alluvial sub-soils packed with calcium carbonate is magic and in a cool year like 2013 the potential for success is great. It’s all hand-picked and barrel fermented before ageing in new and used, medium-toasted French Burgundian barrels sur lie for 11-12 months.Clean, bright and fresh the attack is tight with citrus and pear flecked with hazelnuts. It’s the minerality that makes this special by offsetting the richness and giving the finish depth and length. Perfect for big chicken dishes, shellfish and fresh cheeses. A modern-look, meaning more Euro look at chardonnay. Delicious. Good value.Tasted: 28 June 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
