Zuccardi Serie A Bonarda 2012
Santa Rosa, Northern Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaOriginally grown in Piedmont, bonarda has seen much success in the high altitude, rich soils of Argentina, though it always plays second string to the gloried malbec grape. Which is a shame - the juicy, fruity and floral forward red can be quite welcoming. Here, from the sandy desert heat of Santa Rosa, ripe blueberry, plum and violets are the entry to a juicy, soft and chewy palate. Potent, concentrated blueberry, blackberry gummies, mulberry and wine gums fill the mouth, with moderate acidity. Tannins are present, but supple and pliable, and end with a downy finish. Try alongside grilled beef burgers or spiced beef or lamb empanadas.Tasted: 20 May 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $13.10 | 750ml | speculative listing - The Bacchus Group |
