Père Anselme La Fiole Côtes du Rhône 2012

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceEven if you don't know the winery's name, you will certainly recognize the distinctive s-curve bottle, Anselme's Châteauneuf-du-Pape a constant on our shelves for ages and many local drinkers' first (and, only) knowledge of Châteauneuf. This wine is not said entry bottle, but a basic, entry Côtes du Rhône blend of grenache and syrah. Softly spiced raspberry, cherry and wax aromas. The round, easy palate shows the same, with barnyard, fine pepper and cherry bitterness over astringent tannins. Best sopped up with weeknight chicken stew and dumplings.Tasted: 27 May 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
