Elena Fucci Titolo Aglianico Del Vulture 2009
Basilicata, ItalyHuge character and intensity, with pure volcanic soils expressing noble perfumed iris, mineral, complex blue and black fruits and berries. Fine grained, but firm, high tannins present slightly gummy and grippy, though well-balanced by the bright, lifted and pointed effortless acidity. Wet slate, minerality, iron, pomegranate, cardamom, black liquorice on the full bodied palate, showing subtle age with an organic roundness of the edges. Lingering mineral and spice, calling for pouring alongside pork sausage and grains, or orecchiette with rabbit. Great aging capability and complexity, drinking well in relative youth, though you can easily hold for a decade.Tasted: 30 May 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $57.49 | 750ml | specialty listing |
