Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir Reserve 2012

Carneros, Napa Valley, California, United StatesTwo blocks in Carneros were selected for this reserve pinot noir, combining dry farmed 40 year old vines with a mix of clones aged 35 years. Partial whole cluster and 100 percent new French oak was employed to up the presence of this full, ripe red. Fragrant plums, raspberry and sweet spice aromas. The silky palate carries the same, alongside strawberries, cherries, red currant and woodsy notes. Tannins whisper fine, acidity is bright and lively right through to the cracked black pepper and finely sanded cedar spice on the finish. A generous, ripe fruited and silken pinot noir that would pair well with sauced baked salmon or pork tenderloin in mushroom cream.Tasted: 23 April 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
